Microsoft officially unveiled the Xbox 360 on MTV on May 12, 2005 with detailed launch and game information divulged later that month at the Electronic Entertainment Expo. The Xbox 360 enjoys the credit of being the first console to provide a near-simultaneous launch across the three major regions. It also tastes the credit of being the first name to provide wireless controller support at launch. The Xbox console succeeded in making a record sale of 13.4 million units worldwide by September 30, 2007. The Xbox 360 gaming console got launched in the U.S. on November 22, 2005 and in Canada on December 2, 2005 in Europe on December 10, 2005. Microsoft launched the console in 36 countries with in a year creating a history, as no other console has been launched in such a large number of countries in a single year. It even marginalised the sale of Sony and Nintendo, its rivals in the market. In the beginning, the Xbox 360 was available in two configurations: the "Xbox 360" package, priced at $399, and the "Xbox 360 Core", priced at US$299. The Xbox 360 from Microsoft supports videos in wmv-format, as well as high-definition .wmv-videos, , and Playsforsure WMV videos.
